The photographs were taken during a stay in Madagascar, in collaboration with the Ankizy Gasy Foundation.
Look Around. Open Up.
Every day, we observe ourselves, constantly gazing, exchanging fleeting looks—some wandering, some lingering—a brief moment sometimes enough to connect with another person. We can also look through glass. A lens. Look around, draw closer. Simply step out onto the street. There, everything unfolds. People cooking, trading, negotiating, fixing phones, arguing, celebrating, loving—women breastfeeding, and men spending hours contemplating all this hustle and bustle. Plenty of exhaust fumes, words, raw meat, and cooked rice. But none of this is as crucial as their gazes. Look around. Open up. Welcome to the exhibition <<Look Around. Open Up>>”
The team
The works were created partially in collaboration with the British journalist James Ruttle, known for his contributions to publications like Vice magazine.
We did it.
Notably, all 36 works were successfully sold in a single evening during the exhibition, amplifying the collection's impact and resonance.
The event itself, which happened in 2016, is still remembered by venue owners as the evening that they emptied the stock. The storm of people that rushed inside was bigger than a typical Saturday night fever.
